Wandering away in Wilmington

Take a step back in time and visit Wilmington, North Carolina. Wilmington is by far my husband's favorite place to visit. It is a small port city that has so much to see and so much to do. There are stores for anything you could think of buying, there are plenty of interesting restaurants to visit and experience and there are tons of craft beer bars that have the most unique atmospheres I have ever experienced. While in Wilmington, we visited several awesome places! We went to the USS North Carolina and walked around for a few hours! The battleship is such a wonderful place to visit, such a major piece of our history. Kids love the battleship and there are so many cool contraptions that you can see and learn about!

When you visit Wilmington, make sure the battleship is on your list of attractions to see! After visiting the battleship, my husband and I went to Front Street Brewery, where we ordered the most delicious Pulled Pork Tacos we have ever tasted. Afterward you get your dinner, walk down to Kilwin's Chocolate, if you are feeling ice cream, order a yummy milkshake, feeling something different, order a caramel covered, sea-salted apple, want something smaller, have some Almond Toffee Crunch. I am telling you, you cannot go wrong with any order from Kilwin's Chocolate, take your children in and let them watch the process of the chocolate and fudge being made. Ready for your next adventure? Head to the Cape Fear Museum and explore the history of the town. Take a stroll down the front of the riverwalk at night time and see how beautiful the town is with the lights reflecting on the water.

Wilmington is extremely well known for having popular movies and television shows produced in their historic town. Pay and take a guided tour of all of the different film locations in Wilmington. Don't feel like being ushered around, take it slow, print a map of the locations and visit them all yourself like my husband and I did. One Tree Hill is one of our favorite shows and it was awesome to get to walk across the bridge from the opening of every show.  It was so much fun to see where the show was filmed at and to see the houses and businesses where the cast lived and worked in the show. The last place that you must visit before you leave is the Airlie Gardens. This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my entire life. It was wonderful to go here during blooming season. Being surrounded by so many flowers is like living in a fairy tale. The Airlie Gardens were so beautiful, I can even try to describe them. It is definitely a place where you can spend all day. I can't imagine leaving town without seeing this beautiful attraction.
